no heat in the winter for ~2 months
Pros
nice layouts for the units because almost all have two bathrooms and a balcony
Cons
the electricity bill is insane in the winter if you are able to use the heating units we were not as our electric heating units broke. we did not have heat for ~2 months in the winter, particularly when the temperature was 40 degrees and below at night. the landlords were rude standoffish, extending the repair timeline, not providing rent relief and not offering alternative heating units until they returned from their overseas trips. the outdoor balconies were not installed properly and not all of them have drainage holes out onto the street. water collects in the corners and grows mold. water also leaks inside the units from the balconies. most of the tenants are related to the building landlord’s. they treat the hallway like it’s a common area and frequently have loud conversations, exercise and otherwise are pretty noisy. the building allows animals but doesn’t have the infrastructure to support them. the elevator has dog pee in it all the time and smells. we were told by our brokers that the landlords prefer asian and white tenants. this correlated with my experience and the neighbors i was able to see. finally when we moved out due to the language barrier we were pressured to accept a $200 deduction from our security deposit without any receipt of work done.
I love this apartment!
Pros
The location is great, the apartment is new and amazing. Sad to leave.
Cons
The only con is that heat is not included and it’s provided by an a/c-heater which means the bill will increase over the winter.
