Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant feedback for Isaac Schwartz's buildings reveals significant challenges in management and maintenance. Many residents report severe issues with heating, pest control, cleanliness, and garbage management, resulting in uncomfortable living conditions. Security concerns are prominent, including broken doors and safety risks. Noise levels are often high due to rowdy neighbors, and responsiveness from management is frequently described as slow or inadequate. While some appreciate location and unit size advantages, persistent maintenance problems and a lack of effective management oversight suggest prospective tenants should carefully consider these factors before renting in these buildings.

Illegal apartment unit?

Pros

Historic staircase, my possibly illegal unit had a decent renovated bathroom with skylight.

Cons

No door buzzer, flimsy from door locks, flimsy apartment door locks, my unit was possibly illegally created ?? Con Edison could never find it on record of existing.

Terrible building and Management

Pros

Neighborhood is the perk here. You’re super close to Franklin ave and surrounding neighborhoods and on the A/C. That’s it!

Cons

The building is not insulated, walls are super thin, heat never really works, water will scald you every time, no light gets into these places, they allowed mold to continue to grow in my ceiling for months, people smoke in the halls at all hours, garbage is always overflowing, key fobs never works, nothing works here. It’s not worth the (what was) reasonable rent.

Advice to the owners

Pretty sure nothing can be said or done at this point.
