Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews of buildings managed by Kenneth Yustman reveal significant concerns regarding overall management and living conditions. Many residents highlight issues with cleanliness, pest control, and noise levels, with reports of neglected maintenance and poor owner responsiveness. While some apartments are spacious and affordable, ongoing pest problems and deteriorating neighbor behavior detract from the living experience. A few tenants praise the effective garbage management, yet overall, many feel the need for improved management and stricter tenant vetting to enhance the environment. This suggests potential renters should proceed with caution if considering one of these buildings.

Hell hole in Inwood

Pros

Its hard to think off, cheap rent. Hot water sometimes, elevator works sometimes

Cons

Drug dealers on 3fl, 1st floor, and the basement. Super rents out the boiler room, storage room to semi homeless people, Also trash on the floors, elevator and stairs. It’s a zoo. Wait, the blasting music on Friday-Sunday nights...Laundry room is really another issue, 4th July it’s a firework display on the roof top displays by the supers son! Wait, sorry the roaches and mice!

Advice to the owners

You really need to invest in a better super to manage the place. It’s become a dump. I had to reinforce the radiators with regular metal radiator covers to prevent the mice from coming through. I had to seal up every crevice with caulk to prevent the roaches. I had to drill holes in the wall to put chemicals in there to stop the bedbugs. I had to go to extermination school to learn how to manage my own apartment with the pests that were there.

Spacious and affordable (with a few downsides, but not dealbreakers)

Pros

Lots of space in the apartment (large bedrooms and large kitchen), affordable rent, somewhat responsive landlord, mostly respectful neighbors, and organized garbage management

Cons

There's been a lot of roaches recently, which is annoying. There's also occasional mice during the winter time. Also, there's 1 neighbor who has 3-4 dogs in their apartment, which is a bit of a nuisance because of the odor it brings to the floor. It's also annoying when some neighbors continuously slam the door.

Advice to the owners

Patch up holes so that mice don't come in (1 mouse is 1 too many). Have the exterminator come in at a convenient time for neighbors, or make sure he slips in a note with his contact information so that residents can book an appointment at a convenient time.
