Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews of buildings managed by Ronald Friedman indicate a mixed management approach. While some tenants appreciate his responsiveness and presence onsite, others cite concerns about noise, privacy invasions, and disputes over deposits. Cleanliness and garbage management receive varied feedback, with some praising the efforts and others highlighting pest issues and outdated facilities. Heating and insulation appear inconsistent, affecting comfort. Noise levels and neighbor relations fluctuate, impacting tenant experience. Rent prices are viewed as high relative to building conditions. Overall, tenants suggest improvements in professionalism, maintenance, and respect for privacy to enhance living conditions under this management.

Landlord is extremely rude, apartment is overpriced and LOUD.

Pros

It has walls.

Cons

Landlord (Dan Goldman) will act like you don’t pay rent for his building, invade your privacy, and try to keep your security deposit. Extremely loud street, no radiator, rodents in the building. Very cold and impersonal. Not a good experience. Not treated with respect even after paying rent on time for seven months. Literally said "alright, now get the F out" after trying to shake me down for my deposit for normal wear on the furniture that was made out of shoddy, unstained wood that looked like it was picked up off of the street.

Advice to the owners

Stop acting like you are above the people who pay your mortgage

Fine for short-term, long-term is harder

Pros

'Landlord' is flexible on payment methods, seems committed to keeping the building safe and clean. Good place to sublet if you need to find a spot quick. Rooftop access!

Cons

'Landlord' oversteps in inappropriate ways - let himself into our apartment in the middle of the night because someone was being too loud. He lives below us, but knowing that he was willing to do that freaked me out. Will get into yelling matches over noise levels since he lives below the third floor unit. Being randomly paired up with other subletters makes for an unorganized living situation- some refused to clean, etc. But again, for short-term none of this is a huge deal. Long-term I got pretty sick of it though.

Advice to the owners

Move into the top floor if noise bothers you so much
