They used the shared space for laundry and regularly left clothing, including underwear, on the floor. • Boundary issues: The landlord repeatedly questioned who I had in my home and who I was bringing over, which felt intrusive. • Uncomfortable monitoring: I was told comments such as hearing me flush the toilet more than once, which added to an overall feeling of being watched. • Living conditions: The room was in the basement and there was a rat infestation. • Ventilation complaints: I was repeatedly criticized for opening windows and doors despite the basement conditions and pest issues.
Advice to the owners
Improve professionalism in communication, respect tenant privacy, limit family access to tenant areas, address pest issues promptly, and set clear written rules and boundaries.
