You’ll end up paying much more than just rent…

Pros

This building has a great location, really close to Spring st station, and has a great wash/dry for every unit.

Cons

You’ll be fine the first two weeks, until the problems start showing up. By far the worst problem is that the heating of the water comes from your electricity bill. Expect to have an average of $400 electrical bill every month. We tried to trouble shoot that but Spectrum told us everyone in that building had a high electrical bill for that reason. Extremely old building. They paint over the walls every new rent so after a month of being there you’ll start to see the massive water leaks that turn the entire top of the living room wall yellow. Heating always breaks, once I had to turn on the stove to keep myself warm in the winter. Dish washing machine will also break, lots of things will break. And the building management/owner will not respond or do anything. In the last 4 months of my lease I probably sent out 10 emails with complaints that never got fixed.

Advice to the owners

Respond to the tenants. Fix the problems. And most importantly, let potential tenants know about the high electrical bills.
