Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by Mayer Kaufman depicts a pattern of mixed management quality. While some buildings offer spacious apartments and responsive staff during business hours, there are widespread complaints about persistent pest infestations, poor cleanliness, and inadequate building maintenance. Heating systems are often faulty or expensive to operate, and noise insulation is generally lacking. Garbage management is inconsistent, with some sites better managed than others. Tenants frequently report slow or insufficient repairs and a reluctance by management to take full responsibility for upkeep or safety concerns. Overall, expect prompt rent collection but variable responsiveness and maintenance standards.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Pros

The apartments are spacious. The management company is responsive Monday to Fridays during business hours.

Cons

Has a lot of issues with water bugs, spiders, centipedes, roaches, ants & rodents. There’s a ridiculous infestation of rodents & ants. Responsiveness doesn’t mean they’ll resolve your issues. The building is very poorly maintained.

Advice to the owners

Fix the building

Decent but good be better

Pros

Response for repairs management deems urgent

Cons

The heating can be super expensive since it’s electric, this leads to having the tolerate colder winters— even indoors
