Run of the mill absent landlord
Pros
All of the apartments in the building are three bedrooms so there’s a lot of space, also an absent landlord can be a good thing
Cons
The hot water is very inconsistent - more a problem of the hot water tank just being too small for the amount of tenants. Taking a quick shower at midnight shouldn’t be ice cold. The heat wasn’t turned on until very recently late October, so there were some chilly nights and mornings. The landlord is very absent, she doesn’t really use her phone or anything and we go through supers frequently (three in a year). There is construction on two sides of the building which has meant more pests around, but an exterminator comes every six weeks or so and does the rounds. The walls are paper thin, there were neighbors (now gone) who were chainsmokers and you could smell the smoke through walls and up multiple floors- it stunk up the lobby as well. Sound travels the same.
Advice to the owners
Upgrade the hot water heater and we’re set.
