Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by Joshua Gotlib reveals consistent issues with management responsiveness and maintenance. While locations are often praised for their convenience and some units are described as nice or renovated, chronic problems with pests (mice and roaches), heating, water leaks, and broken appliances persist. Many renters report unaddressed repairs, security concerns like package theft, and ineffective pest control despite ongoing efforts. Communication is frequently slow or nonexistent, leading to tenant frustration. Building cleanliness and garbage management vary, but often reflect neglect. Overall, renters should expect management challenges, particularly around timely problem resolution and building upkeep.

Pros

Location, Location, Location

Cons

The building management is completely unreliable to manage: maintenance issues tenant to tenant issues mail / package theft issues constant elevator break downs Mail boxes falling off the wall Roaches are a constant issue Mice? I suggest you get a cat Constant turnover of apartments

Advice to the owners

Get rid of the mice and roaches

Typical NYC Landlords

Pros

The location is decent. Heat and hot water generally work. Trash/recycling goes in the basement, and someone brings it to the curb on the select days.

Cons

The management is incredibly unresponsive. They might or might not respond to emails, and they took months to resolve many complaints (ie. heat, intercom). I also had to file a rental insurance claim for an incident, and the management never sent me a report of the incident despite a verbal assurance in-person and months of repeated emails. The basement does see cockroaches, although pest control is pretty decent. There's no compost bin, but perhaps that's for the best.
