Unclean building - embarassing

Pros

Nice sized apartment, nice neighborhood.

Cons

It's so unclean that it's embarrassing to live here. The building floors are never mopped, there is no rug in the lobby for people to wipe their shoes - tracking grime from outside everywhere, garbage is allowed to collect in the building, and we end up having to sweep and mop our hallway/stairwell ourselves (and purchased cleaning supplies to do so!). Buildup of grime on the hallway windows. There's a mattress in the lobby that's been there for weeks. No cleaning since the huge snowstorm. The sidewalk in front of the building is regularly littered with trash and feces. We've reported these matters multiple times to mgmt with nothing having changed. It's galling having to beg our landlord to provide this.

Advice to the owners

We require regular, consistent cleaning, as is the standard in every other residential building in NYC. The building needs to be swept and mopped multiple times a week, including both the lobby, stairwells, residential hallways, and sidewalk. Those areas must also be regularly cleared of trash.

Building is not well kept

Rent stabilized. Close to trains.

Cons

The building is poorly kept, very rarely swept or mopped. There is trash and scum on the floor in the lobby and staircases. There is a mattress left in the entry way that has been there for weeks. Many of the residents call and complain and no one does anything about the complaints. The building smells bad because the building is never cleaned. It took months for the heat to be regularly turned on for the cold winter months. When our oven was broken it took weeks to get a response to get fixed. Poor communication and slow response time. Would not recommend SRMC to anyone.

Advice to the owners

Clean the building! 1-3 business days response times. Keep the heat on during the winter without having residents beg.
