Slum lord 101
Pros
In the heart of one the great neighborhoods in NYC. Literally 3 minutes away from the 7 and Long Island Rail Road. Has back yard space that we as tenants bright back from the dead.
Cons
Land lord used basement, 1st and 2nd floors as underground air bnbs. Building door was never secure due to constant influx of unknown tenants. And yes, there was a constant bed bug infestation.
Advice to the owners
Start following laws in general. For staters, the basement apartment was not up to code. None of his off the books illegal hotel operations was lawful. I’ll stop here and just say he’s a slum lord.
