Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of buildings managed by Joseph Poggioli reveal a mix of experiences primarily centered at 374 State Street, Brooklyn. Tenants consistently praise the excellent location, helpful superintendents, and strong water pressure. However, communication with the landlord is frequently described as outdated, difficult, and sometimes disrespectful, leading to strained tenant relations. Maintenance and building upkeep receive mixed feedback, with some noting noisy heating and requests for more attentive care. Residents highlight issues with timely responsiveness and suggest modernizing communication methods. Overall, management appears committed but could improve tenant respect, communication efficiency, and building maintenance to enhance renter satisfaction.

Loved living here

Pros

The location of this building can't be beat! The super is so friendly and responsive, and I never felt unsafe or that my maintenance requests etc would be ignored.

Cons

Old School landlord. I had to mail a check or walk it over and physically drop it in a mailbox. No option to text or email the owner, had to call on the phone. (this could have changed now)

Landlord will make your life difficult

Pros

Great location! Close to shopping, bars, subways. Pretty block. The super Luciano lives in building. He’s kind and tries to help. High ceilings are nice. The street was relatively quiet (I faced north).

Cons

The landlord Joe will belittle you, lie to you, try to pin blame on you, and generally make your life difficult. Everyone I knew in the building had a combative relationship with him or avoided contact with him. You can only get in contact Joe by calling the office where you’ll usually have to leave a voicemail, and he’ll only respond if he wants to. Radiator is very noisy! The super doesn't speak English well. Joe will let the super enter your apartment without you knowing, for non emergencies. No care is put into making the building look nice.

Advice to the owners

Treat tenants with basic respect.
