Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback on Marilyn Wallach's buildings reveals a mixed management experience. Many appreciate the spacious apartments, quiet neighbors, and well-organized garbage handling. Several highlight good superintendents and convenient locations near transit. However, recurring issues with roach infestations, aging infrastructure, and outdated common areas are frequent concerns. Tenants report slow and sometimes unresponsive management, causing frustration especially with maintenance delays and property upkeep. Laundry facilities often malfunction, and rent increases can be sharp. Overall, while buildings offer good potential, renters should expect challenges with pest control and attentiveness from management that may affect living comfort.

Reviews

Former tenant·10 minutes ago

Decent spot for a first apartment in NYC...but needs some maintenance

Pros

- Neighbors are quiet and respect each other within the building - Garbage management is well conducted and organized, and trash is taken out regularly - Units are larger than average NYC apartments, including for 1 bd and studios with charming interiors - Option to pay rent online

Cons

- Roaches (American and German) are present - Lack of heat and water pressure issues (leaking, water spraying, water damage) - Infrastructure issues due to the age of the building - Management takes a long time to respond to issues - The appearance of the lobby is outdated and old, lacking renovation, even though it was previously mentioned that there would be changes made

Advice to the owners

Need to have more regular check-ins regarding maintenance. Often times they are only taking action during the case of the emergency or major impact to daily living
