Review Summary for Ogrin Associates LLC
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of OGRIN ASSOCIATES LLC buildings reflect generally responsive and helpful management with friendly supers in many locations, particularly praised for handling heat and pest control when attentive. However, persistent pest issues, especially mice, remain a significant concern at some properties with mixed responses in addressing them. Cleanliness and garbage management vary, with notably better upkeep in some buildings. Tenants appreciate quiet neighbors and good amenities but note occasional maintenance delays, unresponsiveness from supers or management, and sometimes outdated fixtures. Noise can be manageable though occasional disturbances arise. Overall, tenants find management willing to improve but suggest better pest control and more consistent communication.

Good but extremely hot in summer and cheap out on finishes & simple maintenance
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great heat in winter and hot water year round
Responsive management
Minimal noise most of the time
Clean
I saw two dead American cockroaches (the ones that wander in from outside, not the invasive German cockroaches) and a few house centipedes in one year. No other bugs. So, good pest management.

It is a fine place to live. I would live there again if my budget was more limited.
Cons:
Extremely hot and humid during summer, with no airflow due to add-on walls and no good place for a window AC unit in the living space. I put an AC unit in the bedroom and spent most of the summer in that room. Not sure if fans would be enough for the living space.

My bathroom stayed humid and I had problems with pink/orange bacteria growing on my shower curtain liner. My new place does not have this problem despite similar usage. I blame the bad airflow.

The super was helpful and nice, but not organized and not able to solve some simple maintenance tasks.

The noise isolation is not great. It was usually fine since my neighbors were quiet. Occasionally I would hear one side of people’s phone conversations. People in a neighboring building hosted loud parties occasionally on Fridays or Saturdays that ended around 12:00 am. It was not a big disturbance for me and not every weekend.

My refrigerator flickered off and back on periodically. Probably due to bad electrical wiring in the building. Could be a problem if you try to run an AC in the kitchen/living space.

Cheap/not well maintained finishes. Doors scraping the floor, closet doors not opening smoothly. Plastic toilet handle. Mismatched bathroom faucet.

Sometimes the common area wasn't super clean

Love it here!!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, friendly/helpful super, clean, quiet, so many things!
Cons:
Not much to complain about - it might get a little noisy on the weekends but that’s expected for the area.

Honestly there was a mice problem when we first moved in but we got it settled!

Great landlord and super
Former Tenant
Pros:
Responsive landlord and super helpful super
Cons:
Had a mice infestation, but owners were very helpful in resolving it

Great minus pests
Former Tenant
Pros:
Beautiful building, and our super kept it up nicely in common spaces. Loved the elevator, and the shape of the apartment space.
Cons:
We did struggle with pests (mice) and it was super hard to get a comprehensive response from the building.
We also had a super difficult time with the owner - when we were working on renewing, our security deposit didn't arrive to her on time in the mail, and she was pretty threatening to us about it when it was just a slow moment with USPS.
Advice to owner:
Take mice seriously, and don't threaten your tenants with homelessness
Over 1 year ago
Charming but a little dirty
Former Tenant
Pros:
The opening has an amazing greenhouse and the super cares about the plants. The super is generally good at being responsive too. The building has a lot of character and everyone if very friendly in the building.
Cons:
Definitely has mice problem. Had issues with flies and ants as well. An older building so random faucets or lights will stop working all the time. Property management company is hard to deal with.

Former Tenant
Pros:

never hugely messy
very updated apartments with great appliances, beautiful kitchen
Cons:

the garbage room was a disaster a lot of the time I was there -- bugs flying everywhere, really disgusting
didn't feel safe going home at night
not a lot of cameras/etc

Good location, but there are mice
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building is in a great location with access to east village
Cons:
Mouse problem in the building
Good except for mice and price
Former Tenant
Pros:
Apartment has great location, nice bedroom sizes, strong water pressure + garbage disposals, and tenant-controlled central air and heating. Also has laundry in building and an elevator
Cons:
Building has a history of pests--known mice infestations in 2020, 2021, and 2023. Exterminator visits 2x per month but not effective, and management is unresponsive. Rent is high. Packages get stolen from the lobby regularly. Appliances and hallways could use updating

Best Super Around
Former Tenant
Pros:
Elevator building in the East village with laundry in building and a great lobby. The super is very responsive and helpful - have loved living here
Cons:
Building just took measures to help moderate the building controlled heat/ac, but previously was a problem. no doorman, so packages have been stolen
Over 3 years ago
Great apartment Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Heat and hot water, no rats, no roaches, great water pressure, no bed bugs
Cons:
Sometimes can be a bit noisy
Advice to owner:
The apartment corridor light on the first floor needs to be replaced since the past 3 months
Over 3 years ago
42 clinton street
Former Tenant
Pros:
Halls are cleaned monthly, everyone in the building keeps everything fairly clean though

Good heat.

Super responds back within 24 hours

Can barely hear neighbors
Cons:
Big Cockroaches. Even up on the fifth floor I’ve had issues with them being in the apt in any room.

Water pressure could be better but gets the job done
Advice to owner:
More roach traps and better water pressure
Over 3 years ago
Charming but wow...
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to L Train, close to schools, great food options
Cons:
Super was unresponsive or would sometimes completely ignore you. Would only respond to you if you got management directly involved. Neighbors got loud on weekends, and had a bad roach problem during the summer. Sound carried a lot throughout the halls and could hear people sneezing or yelling from the inside of your apartment.
Advice to owner:
The super needs to be more responsive. It's really difficult to get a hold of him in emergencies, sometimes wouldn't even be in the city.
