Decent Building Could Be Better

Pros

The new super is friendly and nice. They will repaint your apartment every 5 years, following the law…however the workers are not careful and do shoddy work (dripping paint on furniture, not covering furniture,, etc)

Cons

Brown, rust colored water flows out of the hot water tap. It leaves behind rust granules. There is no on-site laundry facilities. Although garbage management has gotten much better with the new super, the garbage still tends to pile up which, in turn, attracts bugs. The communal spaces are not swept or mopped very often, so the floors are pretty dirty. The cleaning frequency has significantly dropped off. It would be great if the building adopted composting, however, the building clearly doesn’t want to embrace it.

Advice to the owners

Put more care into the building and apartment maintenance and upkeep

Well managed, management and super responsive

Pros

Great location, no real problem with building.

Cons

Elevator and boiler are out a few times a year but only for one day? Still it seems like more than it should be. Heat can be excessive and difficult to regulate.

Advice to the owners

See cons: all those issues need to be addressed.
