Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of buildings managed by Mark Jacob reveal a mixed tenant experience. While apartments are spacious with friendly neighbors and a convenient location near parks and transit, serious issues persist. Tenants report unsafe conditions, including multiple electrical fires and recurring plumbing problems. Management and landlord responsiveness are frequently criticized as slow, coercive, and inadequate, especially during emergencies. Maintenance shortcomings contribute to pest infestations and faulty heating, along with occasional security concerns from building access problems and unauthorized visitors. Despite some tenants recommending the buildings for size and community, overall feedback emphasizes the need for prompt communication, improved safety, and consistent building upkeep.

DO NOT LIVE HERE

Pros

Kind neighbors and good community Close to the park! Big space

Cons

Unsafe living conditions, there was an electrical fire in my apartment and we were without a home for 3 months (this is the latest in a pattern of electrical fires, including one in 2023 which caused many of the units in the front of the building to be uninhabitable) Incredibly coercive and unresponsive management and landlord. We were almost homeless multiple times because the management refused to contact us and our insurance after our apartment became uninhabitable due to a fire. Our shower also flooded with dirty brown water and it wasn't fixed for weeks. Often inadequate heat. The front door to the building has broken multiple times, locking us and other tenants out of the building repeatedly. This means the door often has to be left unlocked and people who do not live in the building come inside and smoke in the lobby. I've been harassed multiple times walking through the lobby by people who don't live in the building.

Large apartments, poor plumbing

Pros

Great size apartments and great neighbors Close to park. Huge rooms and friendly porter

Cons

Plumbing sucks, water backs up during the fall and winter. Laundry and trash room are closed by 7 each day so can’t bring down trash after hours Noisy heaters . Heat used to be really good when I first moved in 4 years ago but now it’s not as good

Advice to the owners

Fix the plumbing!
