Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant experiences with Adam Reisman's buildings reveal a significant variation in management quality across locations. Some buildings like 199 Bowery and 212 North 9th Street feature well-maintained environments, attentive staff, and responsive management, earning tenant approval for cleanliness and problem resolution. However, other properties such as 85 South Street and 1240 Bedford Avenue suffer from poor responsiveness, persistent maintenance issues, ongoing construction disruptions, pest problems, and noise disturbances. Delays in plumbing repairs and inconsistent communication are recurring themes. Prospective renters should anticipate highly variable living conditions and management effectiveness depending on the specific building, with some sites notably better managed than others.

It's fine if you're not paying too much

Pros

Got a good 2 bd 2bth fully furnished without paying a crazy amount.

Cons

Management responds quick, but always with follow-up questions that make resolution take forever. There are also very limited availabilities from the partnered plumber so it takes time to resolve some issues. We've had several multi-day hot water outages, but it's been stable recently. Also the plumbing isn't great, water doesn't egress fast enough so it builds up in sinks, which makes things dirtier and requires more maintenance to clean more frequently. The area isn't the safest but I haven't had any problems. The supervisor isn't responsive if you contact him directly but OPGNY (our propery group) has had an okay time getting ahold of him. We've had 1 package stealing incident in the past 5 years. I've seen 1 rat in the lobby in the past 5 years. I've had drain fly issues surface twice, but I blame my roommate more than the building.

Fix the plumbing?
