Young and Naive
Former Tenant
Pros:
Incredible roof views, safe building (I left my unit door unlocked often and never worried), good space for that time of my life.
Cons:
In the third fl unit there is a mezzanine they market as a third bedroom — it’s NOT! We bought two ACs (one for each bedroom at either end of the apartment) and even with both of them running the mezzanine was too hot for someone to use it as a bedroom (even though we did). The landlord (Joe Wasser) took advantage of how young and dumb we were - when we moved in we did not have running water for several days, and we did not have running gas for much longer (was a brand new building at the time). When we asked for concessions on rent for the month because of this, he threatened to void our lease. Management not responsive. It took months to fix the electrical wiring of the lamp in the kitchen.
Advice to owner:
Treat your tenants better, market your units for what they are, respond to inquiries from your tenants.
