They left a roach hole in my ceiling

Pros

Loved the location. Really great and friendly neighbors on the block. Great bodega! Neighbors were pretty quiet, despite the walls being fairly thin I could rarely hear them. Cute raccoons will sometimes hang out on your fire escape. Apartment was small, but cute. HUGE closets.

Cons

We had a light blow out due to water damage (water damage which we were told would be fixed before we moved in, but that’s another story). They had to cut out a large portion of the bathroom ceiling to fix this, and then left a hole in the ceiling for a month (or longer, we moved out) that roaches occasionally fell out of. Other than the roach hole, a roach would usually show up once a month, which honestly isn’t bad for the area. They also misspelled my name in the email they sent which gave us access to the building, so I never received the email and couldn’t open the door when I moved in. Oven didn’t work. It took about six months and many, many phone calls and emails to get our security deposit back, but we eventually did get it back in full. A group of tenants did start a lawsuit against the management company because we were without heat and hot water for about two weeks in the winter, although I don’t know the result of the suit.
