Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews of Yoel Goldman's buildings reveal a stark contrast between properties. Some buildings, like 80 Lexington Avenue, receive praise for cleanliness, responsive management, modern amenities, and pleasant neighbors, fostering a comfortable and secure living environment. However, other buildings, notably 1221 Atlantic Avenue, consistently suffer from severe issues including pest infestations, poor cleanliness, loud noise, ineffective garbage management, safety concerns, and slow or inadequate owner responsiveness. Tenants report frequent disturbances, insecurity, and neglect. Prospective renters should expect variability; while some properties are well-maintained with attentive management, others reflect significant management challenges and deteriorating living conditions.

Starter Apartment For Students

Pros

I needed a cheap apartment with minimal roommates when I was in graduate school. If I was spending a lot more time at home I would've been miserable because the apartment is just so cramped and dingy.

Cons

Absolute slumlords, cockroach problem that never went away, packages constantly went missing, very little light.

Advice to the owners

Avoid at all costs

Pros

Started out as affordable until rent increased by $500 in 1 year then another $300 the year after

Cons

Extremely high rent increases. Severe roach infestation despite hiring my own exterminator after monthly useless exterminator visits. Do not deal with dangerous and violent tenants who impact the safety of others. Never manage the garbage and waste outside. Took months to repair a fridge leading to loss of hundreds of dollars of food.
