A step up from the projects at least

Pros

I like that there’s security, even though it’s only from around 6 PM to 7 AM. At least on my floor, people’s packages are actually safe when left outside their doors. The new superintendent is really helpful, responsive, and friendly—you can tell he genuinely cares. The apartments look nice, and the building has both a laundry room and a gym.

Cons

They clean every other day—or sometimes not for a while—so the garbage rooms tend to pile up, and the floors often look dirty. In the garbage rooms, a few tenants fail to dispose of trash properly, making them extremely dirty. This seems to discourage the cleaning staff, who then put in less effort, causing more buildup and attracting pests. Repairs take a long time unless they’re small, quick fixes. One extremely hot summer, a lot of people’s AC units mysteriously broke, leaving us without air conditioning for a very long time. You need to document everything and keep paper trails because things often get ‘lost’ or ‘forgotten.’ The apartment layout is spacious but awkward and poorly designed. The HVAC system is outdated, with large units under the windows that stick awkwardly into the room. I had to look up the manual online just to figure out how to operate mine. The gym is small and poorly equipped—good only for basic exercises—and the outdoor courtyard is terrible. It closes at 4 PM, making it essentially useless and a waste of space and money. Lastly, there are a few concerning tenants, so I tend to keep to myself.

Advice to the owners

Impose stricter rules don’t be scared as long as it’s for the best (not profit) create a better system and hours for tenants to request repairs. Bring back security 24/7
