Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews for buildings managed by PIENE, CHLOE reveal a beautiful aesthetic and desirable locations. However, renters consistently report serious concerns with management, particularly regarding pest infestations primarily mice, which remain unresolved despite repeated complaints. Communication is often described as poor, disorganized, and at times invasive, with tenants feeling micromanaged and stressed. Additionally, issues such as inaccessible amenities, withheld security deposits, and unprofessional handling of maintenance requests have been flagged. Overall, while the properties have charm, management practices have left tenants dissatisfied and hesitant to recommend these buildings. Prospective renters should be cautious and expect challenges with owner responsiveness and upkeep.

Difficult landlords - look elsewhere

Pros

It's truly a beautiful building with a good location

Cons

The landlords were horrible. Just absolutely should not be renting to people. There were mice in the buildings that they blamed on us not having a cat. The listing said there was laundry in the building but you couldn't get access to the washer/dryer or the backyard even though no one was occupying the downstairs. Tried to withhold our security deposit for no reason.

BAD LANDLORD- DO NOT RENT THIS APARTMENT

Pros

This apartment might seem charming at first glance, but the landlord and pest infestation make this apartment an unbearable environment.

Cons

DO NOT RENT HERE - BAD LANDLORD Pest Infestation: The apartment had a mice problem when I moved in. Despite repeated complaints, the landlord never hired a professional exterminator, relying only on an unqualified acquaintance. The problem persisted the entire time I lived there. Security Deposit: She withheld our full deposit. She also claimed she would move into the unit herself so we would leave, then immediately re-listed it. Intrusive Behavior: She frequently scheduled “inspections” that felt invasive rather than necessary. She even sent her assistant to take videos of the apartment to comment on areas she considered “unkempt.” Poor Communication: Communication is chaotic and stressful. She often sends confusing, cryptic voice messages and is alarmist when addressing real issues like pests. Overly Harsh Management: She micromanages tenants’ living conditions to an unreasonable degree, making the apartment feel more like surveillance than a home. Overall, this was an unprofessional, uncomfortable, and unhealthy living situation. Save yourself the stress and do not rent here.
