No maintenance, filled with roaches, corrupt landlord.

Nice neighborhood to live in.

Worst hell hole you can call home… the roaches from that place cannot be exterminated, the entire building is in ruins and they are feeding off of the decaying matter. It was torture living here. They don’t maintain the building, it’s festering with roaches that are impossible to get rid of. They have a a huge rat problem as well, the city has had to step in to try to maintain it themselves. Building contains illegal dwellings with no windows in rooms. It rained inside the apartment for weeks before the wall that was melting was half repaired. They are well aware of the issues, Starr Opay is a slumlord. The building should be torn down. From neighbor reports, it seems it’s the right side that is damaged far more than the left, but the entire building is a health and safety hazard. Nothing installed properly and unsafe. Plumbing leaks and scalding hot water out of the sink that is either freezing cold or burning hot, very difficult to get actual warm water. No fire escape. Wedged in between luxury buildings owned by the same property management firm, I’m sure they maintain those, but they don’t maintain this property whatsoever. Illegal rooms without windows that they try to pass off as a bedroom. Disgusting. Landlords are evil and do not care about you whatsoever. Months of landlord harassment. The rent here was about $2400 in 2020, since then they’re trying to charge nearly $4k. IT IS A SCAM. DO NOT RENT HERE.

Sell your property to someone who actually wants to repair it or tear it down for kindling.

Good location with some issues

Pros

Got a good price for year 1. Apartment had construction for 1st month of lease after we moved in. Overall responsive maintenance. Great location.

Cons

Big rent increase after 1st year. Heat does not work well at all. Had to use portable heaters which made electricity bill extremely expensive in the winter.
