Good no-frills Midtown apartment

Pros

Very convenient location. I really liked my apartment. My neighbors in building were really nice. Viking Property Management is solid and takes things seriously when you escalate to them. Rent increases were predictable $100-200 each year.

Cons

You're subjected to normal Midtown noise if you have a front-facing apartment. I had a mouse problem on the 5th floor and the exterminator would only come every other Saturday . The super was nice but sometimes brushed issues off. No laundry in building.

great location, terrible management

Pros

- Location. This was my first apartment in NYC and I could get anywhere easily! It was a great place to ilve. - Charm. The apartment kept some of the orginal features.

Cons

I moved out a little over a year ago and finally feel comfortable leaving this review. I was regularly harassed by my super, Danny, during my team in this building. He made several threats to me, including eviction, citing that he could "hear me" walk around my apartment. At one point he even implied that he listened to me having s*x, even after I told him that I did not have visitors in the apartment. He regularly screamed at the my roommate and I on the streets. When I contacted management about this issue, they only responded after 311 was involved. 311 advised me multiple times to call the police to report the harrassment, but I did not move forward due to Danny having young children who were very kind and I did not want to displace them. I would not recommend any young women to live in 242 W 16th for their own safety.
