Unless you are a corpse don’t live here.

Pros

The superintendent works very hard to make sure this building is a welcoming and livable space. Unfortunately his bosses don’t feel the same.

Cons

Living here has taught me that I will never again live in a CO- OP building. They get to exist ungoverned and therefore mistreatment is rampant. Concerns are ignored and belittled as though pest control and heat are some kind of “personal opinions”. Also no one is doing anything about an issue we’ve had for over a year now- with bums and addicts taking up residence in the building lobby after they pass out from going too hard on the drugs. That’s not to be comedic or exaggerate the situation but in fact the reality of the case. Drug paraphernalia beside a comatose body is now a routine fixture on my way to work when walking through the building.

Advice to the owners

The members of the managing board (they are also building residents) treat their responsibilities like disciplinary actions. As if the job is only there for them to give out punishment whenever they personally don’t like something. It’s weird and inappropriate. Instead of doing their jobs, they’re constantly involved in drama. No one seems to care about the real issues of the building. In 5 years, the quality of the building has gone down significantly with increasing bug issues, and the drug abusers sleeping in the lobby. Oh let’s not forget we didn’t have heat all winter!

Corrupt CO-OP- management does whatever they want.

Pros

Hardworking and caring superintendent

Cons

Management likes to push the acceptable boundaries of heating, cleanliness and maintenance some of which include: -Heat has not been turned on all winter. -Bug/roach issues have increased in the last year. -Management engages in petty drama and neighbor gossip.

Advice to the owners

Take care of the building and the residents. Roles on the management board should be taken responsibly and with great accountability- the current members of the board do not make any contributions to benefit any resident in the building. You know what you do wrong. Be better.
