Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants of Matthew Klein's buildings generally praise the cleanliness, well-staffed management, helpful doormen, and quiet neighbors, especially in historic, dog-friendly locations. The management is noted for responsiveness and maintaining a safe environment. However, recurrent issues include inconsistent hot water, occasional pest problems like mice, and some struggles addressing cigarette smoke complaints. Some dissatisfaction arises from certain units' specific conditions and co-op management complexities. While some residents face challenges, many still recommend these buildings for their charm and strong community, with a suggestion for enhanced pest control and stricter enforcement of smoking rules to improve living conditions.

Great place to live, hot water issues

Pros

The building is very well staffed and most tenants/shareholders are quiet and civilized people. The location is wonderful, the doormen and staff are helpful and kind. the units themselves are charming and nice.

Cons

There have been consistent issues with hot water since I moved in. Shower either takes 15-20 minutes to get hot, only reaches lukewarm temperatures, or can turn cold especially during periods of bad weather. Maintenance has definitely been responsive and tried to address it but the hot water remains iffy.

Advice to the owners

Given it's an old building, I'm not sure much can be done about the hot water - it would also be nice if there could be more enforcement of people not smoking marijuana in their units since the smell does definitely spread to other units.
