Advice to the owners

Nothing

Former tenant·Over 1 year ago

WARNING DO NOT MOVE HERE. It is a nightmare

Pros

Absolutely nothing except for the location, and it is a terrible block with addicted homeless people/narrow road so trucks constantly blaring their horns, and typically people screaming outside the all you can eat restaurant down the street. I thought the location would justify the rent but you actually couldn’t pay me to renew my lease.

Cons

Put scaffolding up around entire apartment unannounced and began jackhammering everyday for the entire remained of the lease two weeks after moving in. We were not told there would be any construction, only that the balcony would be closed because debris could fall from the roof. Apparently they have been working on the facade for over 5 years so there is constant construction. Expect them to use this tactic on you—rent you the apartment and just a couple weeks later make 90+ decibel (which is illegal) noise on a daily basis once you’re locked into the lease. JM realty was deceitful throughout this entire lease. Mice problem but that’s the least of it. Don’t turn on heat or AC until the last possible moment so expect to have a few very warm/cold weeks every year. Nonexistent water pressure. Only one of the showers works due to no water pressure. It is literally a trickle on the upper floors. Only one extremely slow working elevator and it regularly breaks so expect to walk up many flights and wait up 5+ minutes for the elevator to come everyday. Expect fumes/debris from construction to enter your apartment on a regular basis, as it regularly did for us. They have lost my packages and refused to pay us back. They have also given us the wrong package on several occasions, so it seems we’re not the only ones. I guess other tenants don’t return nice items they were given by accident? Building manager will lie to your face. They have walked into the apartment without knocking when they thought we were gone. I am somewhat fearful writing this because I think the building is run by criminals.

Advice to the owners

Take accountability. Don’t rent out uninhabitable apartments to unsuspecting people.
