Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants renting from Chaim Friedman often note a mixed management performance across his properties. While some appreciate timely responses to heating and lockout issues, others mention persistent poor garbage management, unclean hallways, unresolved pest infestations, and occasional unprofessional or slow owner communication. Noise disturbances from nearby churches and thin walls contribute to discomfort in several buildings. Some tenants report safety and maintenance concerns such as water damage, mold, and broken mailboxes. Despite shortcomings, Friedman tends to allow a relatively hands-off landlord approach, leading some renters to appreciate the affordable pricing. Overall, expect uneven building upkeep with varying responsiveness depending on the location.

19A covert street

Pros

Landlord left us alone. Cheap and near the train but nothing to do nearby.

Cons

It’s right next to a church that is ridiculously loud all weekend starting at 7am - midnight- it usually has only about 10 people there but it shakes the block with the noise. Also the landlord would not give me back my deposit for so long until I threatened to take legal action and then he sent me a check immediately. They don’t allow cats but we have 2 and he never noticed.

Advice to the owners

Live in the front room if you’re sensitive to noise. Bargain the rent down if you can because of this.
