good building poor mgmt
Former Tenant
Pros:
Apartment and building were nice and clean always. Overall good building.
Cons:
When we moved in, we gave a move-in deposit. We did a self move and broke 1 light shade. The mgmt charged us $525 without an itemized list of what the damages cost to replace. Seemed steep. Went back and forth with him about how we would be more than willing to pay the extra money if he could provide itemized receipts and he never did. Similar stories about them unfairly charging us for things, but that was the largest amount.

Worst management ever
Former Tenant
Pros:
I have never been abused, manipulated and lied to more than by the management of Gramercy Management that manage the Bentley and 159 E 30th. The property manger, Sophia, is the most miserable person. The owner is uninvolved and she forbids residents speaking to him. Simple requests are like pulling teeth. If you make too many requests, she puts you on her shit list. Not only is she entirely unhelpful, she tries to blame damage on residents. God forbid you cause minor damage, she will hold you and your security deposit up for years. I can’t say enough horrible things about this building. She can’t get along with any of the doorman so it’s a revolving door of people at the front desk.
Cons:
I would rather live in a box on the street than live here again.
Advice to owner:
Fire Sophia, take some responsibility for what you owe to your residents and stop trying to steal our money. Do your job!!!
