Pre-War Building, Typical
Former Tenant
Pros:
Large apartments, every room has a window, live in super, close to Prospect, close to trains
Cons:
You NEED the exterminator, NEED. Roaches, Waterbugs, mice in summer. Keep place super clean or old building will surprise you. Semi modern finishes (only kitchen updated). No laundry in some units. No dishwasher in some units. tenants may smoke in hallway. Woke up to fried fish smells and other pungent smells coming thru air ducts in my apartment, as well as thru shoddy doors. I wouldn’t do it. 10m ago I just saw the LARGEST roach I’ve ever seen out of nowhere. And my house is clean. There’s no escaping the downfall of this one.
Advice to owner:
Please fine ppl who smoke in common areas & change garbage to outside drop

Typical ny landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close enough to the park that I could minimize my time in the building
Cons:
Unresponsive landlord/property management company; water damage caused outside of unit left unattended for months; murder in building not addressed to tenants; front door regularly broken into; trash rooms not taken care of/bad smells
Advice to owner:
sell your building to someone who cares
