Old and Rundown but Charming Features

Pros

I like my neighbors and heat/water has never been an issue. Beautiful windows and I've never had any issues with mail. The amazing proximity to the park, grocery stores, and markets during the weekends makes the apartment worth its weight in gold.

Cons

I've had multiple issues with pests- mice my first year, roaches during season changes, and bees this spring, All easily find their way in bc the building is old and has so many holes. The supers were both nice and helpful, but when the issue kept reoccurring I asked the building manager for an exterminator. He NEVER sent one. Buzzer is constantly broken. Raised my rent +7% every year.

Advice to the owners

Please be more responsive to pest issues! A new coat of paint in the hallways can't hurt either

Great location, building is falling apart.

Pros

I like the building's old school charm and it's convenient location to transportation and groceries. Management (Kay Equities) is relatively responsive but the resources they provide are often insufficient.

Cons

The building has always had mice problems (rats in the basement units), there is no water pressure unless the boiler is on, the superintendent who looks after the building is lazy and the building receives citations from the department of sanitation every other month, the superintendent who manages maintenance issues is destructive and has broken residents belongings while 'repairing' issues.

Advice to the owners

Good luck
