Review Summary for Ismene Speliotis
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenant reviews of buildings managed by Ismene Speliotis reveal a mixed picture. Some buildings are noted for friendly neighbors, family-oriented communities, and reasonable maintenance responsiveness. However, many reviews point to serious issues such as poor heating, inadequate hot water supply, pest infestations (especially rats), and garbage mismanagement. Tenants frequently criticize the lack of effective superintendents, slow or nonexistent owner responsiveness, and cleanliness problems. Safety concerns, including non-functioning alarms and building security lapses, are also mentioned. Overall, management appears inconsistent, with significant room for improvement in maintenance, communication, and building care to ensure a better living experience.

No heat or hot water
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building is usually quiet with friendly tenants.
Cons:
There's a lack of hot water, especially during the winter months.Hot water is on a first come first serve basis. It's hard to get in the morning and in the evening when everyone is either getting ready to leave or returning home. During the winter months, condensation builds up around the window frames and ceiling due to the draft that seeps in. The building is filthy 98 percent of the time, due to a lazy live-in superintendent that performs his duties ONLY on occasions. The super also completes a terrible paint job that not only covers the walls in the building hallway but also unintentionally covers the door frames and tiling. For the most part, management is responsive to answering calls, but they lack a super to perform the task at hand when needed. If you need something fixed, you're better off fixing it yourself if you're handy.
Advice to owner:
Ditch the LAZY super and hire someone that actually knows how to perform job duties and has the motivation to work.

Horrible place to live
Former Tenant
Pros:
Literally no pros
Cons:
The building carbon monoxide alarm used to go off and the landlord would just turn it off—he wouldn't tell anyone to evacuate. We had to call the fire department once and they said "you actually pay to live here?" The landlord also used to go on racist rants. I was not surprised to hear about all the fraud. (Google him.)
Advice to owner:
I hope you're in jail <3
