Location for food and culture
Cons:
Terrible infestation of roaches. Project heat - it was 80 degrees in the bedroom year round. Constantly turning off the water for maintenance without alerting tenants

My nightmare

Located across the street from the laundromat
Located 1 half blocks from the train
Located 1 block from the supermarket
Cons:
Stay away from this building. Do not let the cosmetic appearance of the apartment fool you. Its all a charade. Located on a commercialized block. The noise level is unbelievable. You will need psychiatric help to deal with the noise level. If its not the party halls and restaurants then its the street noise of cars and revving motorcycles. Also for some odd reason people tend too park their cars and play their music very loud in front of the building. For example On a random Sunday morning you can expect to wake up to the sweet sounds of someone who suddenly decides to play 1010 wins news at a sound decibel of 1000 (and I am not being sarcastic). If thats not enough the school buses park right in front of the building on weekdays and idle their noisy school buses as they wait to make there morning rounds across the city. Not sure why they pick this building to convene. Shall I continue? Expect to hear very loud conversations and fights from the locals. Im not sure why but they seem to have no understanding of controlling the level of their voices. And the fights and the anger and the lack of consideration is beyond anything i could have imagined. To be fair the parties stop around 12am but the crowd doesn’t disperse until an hour or 2 after that.

In just 1 month you can expect to catch up to 10 mice. There are rodents in the walls making noises. Also be expected to be bitten by bed bugs daily. Dont look for them around your bed. They come out of the walls and power outlets. As a matter of fact, While writing this review Ive had a baby bed bug crawl down my elbow. Ive never had bedbugs in my life. It sounds unreal but i cannot make this up and i would not waste my time trying to warn people. I am a 41 year old man with a wife and a child. So if its not the noise outside keeping you the be assured that you will stay up worrying about things crawling on you.
Let me continue, the plumbing in the building is atrocious. I guess because the plumbing is highly outdated. You can expect clogging pipes all the time with a bath tub that has a puddle of water in the center because the water doesn’t drain all the way.
I am not sure where else to write this review to warn potential renters but DO NOT RENT HERE. This is a warning. Let this be a red flag. And its not like the rent is cheap. Dont make the same mistake I made. After this experience I will never be the same. If you do decide to go against the recommendation of this review then make sure to take an apartment in the back of the building and not on the street (Nostrand avenue). This way you will not hear the highway noise as it rarely every stops. Car after car, truck after truck, motorcycles, yelling, music, cursing. Then again if you do take one of the apartments in the back of the apartment building then you will still not be able to escape the club music.
Did i forget to mention the windows which dont look like they were changed since 1960 (keep in mind it 2021). You can expect a large overbearing draft out of each of your windows. The heat for the most part is consistent (most of the time) but it doesn’t matter because the draft is so powerful. It feels like the window is open when its not. And in the summer good luck opening them up for fresh air as they are constantly falling out of track. Theres so much more to write but I think I’ll stop here.
Advice to owner:
Do quality renovations and not cosmetic patch jobs.
Change the windows as this will help with insulation and sound issues
Hire quality exterminators
Get rid of the bed bug infestation
Get rid of the mouse infestation
Sell the property
