Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

"Reviews for buildings managed by NEWPORT MANAGEMENT LLC are highly polarized. On one hand, some tenants commend well-maintained amenities and proactive maintenance from certain supers, appreciating the quiet atmosphere and decent responsiveness. Conversely, a significant number of residents report serious neglect, including poor pest control, unresponsive management, and hazardous living conditions. Instances of mold, security issues, and ongoing maintenance failures are prevalent concerns. Renters generally recommend avoiding properties managed by this landlord due to these severe management shortcomings, with some asserting it reflects slum-like conditions not suitable for comfortable living."

Avoid at all costs

Pros

The price, but you also get what you pay for

Cons

Isaac and his brother who own this building together are scammers. He was the absolute worst landlord I have ever had in my life. I had black mold in my bathroom, gas leaks that his super made worse and refused to fix for a week, and a bathroom flooded by the upstairs tenant that they let flood for 5 days straight. I had to sue him (I won). If you can avoid any of his buildings, do it. He’s the definition of a slumlord.

Overall Great place to live

Pros

Overall, very well kept and clean. Landscaping is pleasant, the Super has built wonderful structures in the courtyard and planted lots of greenery and created a beautiful community gathering space. The building is generally quiet, maintenance issues are generally addressed quickly. When a pipe was leaking inside the walls on our downstairs neighbor, the repairs that they needed to access through our apartments walls happened fairly quickly and with decent communication. Not perfect, but not so bad.

Cons

Honestly, there aren’t that many cons. It’s generally a lovely co-op to live in.
