Review Summary for 20 Broad Street Owner LLC
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Tenants report that 20 Broad Street, managed by 20 BROAD STREET OWNER LLC, features a very clean, secure, and modern building with friendly doormen and well-maintained amenities like gyms and lounges. Maintenance requests are often handled promptly, and the location is convenient with extensive subway access. However, some complain about occasional management unresponsiveness, package handling disorganization, and rising rents. Noise from neighbors, thin walls, and limited natural light on lower floors are noted concerns. While tenants value the attentive staff and amenities, some mention issues with rude front desk personnel and suggest improved communication and staff training to foster a more inclusive environment.

20 Broad Resident
Former Tenant
Pros:
Staff are all very kind. Front desk workers all take time to learn everyone's names and apartment numbers. Any matinenance requests are taken care of within a day
Cons:
Location is not on a driveable street, which I wish they told you before moving in as I was not able to tour. Walls are also thin

Great apartment building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Doormen, porters, and other staff are all super friendly and attentive. A lot of friendly neighbors (and dogs!). Overall loved the amenities, apartment, and area
Cons:
We had some issues with certain non-essential appliances that the management company took months to address. Also, management raised our rent while the market didn’t provide for that (ie similar units were being rented for hundreds of dollars less) and would not negotiate.

Clean, responsive, and convenient
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is incredible -- tons of subway lines (J 4 5 2 3 1...) within minutes, and whole foods is right behind the building. I've lived here for two years with no issues -- management responds to maintenance within a day (sometimes within a couple hours). The doormen are polite and I've never had package issues. The building is clean and well maintained! Rent is reasonably priced for the building and amenities.
Cons:
The area is a little touristy, given the stock exchange is next door.

Great building to live in
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Amazing doormen + team in general
- Handymen were very responsive to any requests
- Close to all the major subways
- Nice finishes
Cons:
- The light isn't great if you're on a lower floor
- On a pedestrian street so you can never be dropped off at your front door if you're ubering, but never felt unsafe even at night

Terrible front desk, cool building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Building itself is well built, nice amenities like its gym and lounge.
Cons:
However the front desk people are some of the worse I’ve experienced. I understand that not everyday will be everyone’s best, nor do I expect it.

But some at the front desk ones here are just rude every single time. There are two in particular that are rude as soon as you interact with them, talk with a serious condescending tone, and give guests in particular an especially hard time.

I’m going to putting in several complaints to management, as the repetition is troubling and just unnecessary.

Been taking note and I see it’s mostly against POC, and people who don’t seem to speak English well. Just an observation!
Advice to owner:
I’d suggest training with staff for interacting with those who don’t speak English as well. Some of the attitudes a few of the front desk people exhibit during these interactions is just painfully overt.

Difficult unresponsive management
Former Tenant
Pros:
It’s a nice building with a nice gym
Cons:
Bad location and management is incredibly difficult to work with, won’t let friends stay over, and will take over a month to respond to any requests
Over 2 years ago
a terrible location
Former Tenant
Pros:
Lots of amenities, tiny apartments, big rents, so so service. Very inconvenient.
Cons:
The location is horrendous. You cannot bring a car to anywhere close to the building without risking a ticket without leaving someone in the car and still watching out because they will ticket you even if in the car. You cannot get an Uber without walking either 2 blocks to Broadway or one long block to William Street. You may or may not be able to get an Uber to drop you off but they would have to go through security and most won't do it. The security people from the NYSE are very nasty and if you have to bring a car close to the building, you have to deal with them( but Never leave it alone)
Advice to owner:
Should have demanded loading area in front of the building.

Gorgeous Building in great area
Former Tenant
Pros:
Love the cobblestone street in front. Extremely clean, the lobby literally smells clean when you walk in. beautiful gym that is well maintained.
Cons:
rooftop isn’t great, not a lot of sun cuz of all the tall buildings around. also if you don’t like dogs, there are a ton — sometimes even pee in front of building
