bedbugs and uncaring, greedy management

Pros

Nice area. That’s it.

Cons

The management company that bought this building only wants to convert units into dorms for grad students from China, who pay extortionate rents to live in shoeboxes, not that they seem to care. The building often has bedbugs, which the owners are happy enough to treat. But they treat individual apartments as and when tenants complain, and the bugs just move from unit to unit. So the whole building has had bedbugs for years; the bugs play musical chairs in traipsing from apartment to apartment. Doesn’t matter if you have your apartment treated and fumigated for bedbugs. You’ll get four or maybe five months before they come back. I overheard managers say that they didn’t care about tenants unless the tenants were participating in a rent strike, in which case they’d order repairs. Once the gas went out in one apartment line, and the owners just gave tenants hot plates. Once the heat went out over a weekend, and everyone froze. The elevator once broke for weeks.

Advice to the owners

This is a joke of a question. The owners don’t care about anything but their filthy lucre.
