Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews of buildings managed by LEK PALOKA reveal a mixed management experience. Positive aspects include generally good responsiveness, well-maintained laundry facilities on multiple floors, effective pest control, and quiet, friendly neighbors in some buildings. However, significant concerns involve outdated units with worn floors and walls, poor hallway upkeep including moldy carpets, and persistent unpleasant odors. Some renters feel maintenance solutions are temporary rather than comprehensive repairs. Heating systems mostly function well, but noise levels and garbage handling vary. Overall, tenants suggest focusing on improving cleanliness, addressing health hazards, and renovating shared spaces to enhance living conditions.

BLDG Issues

Pros

I like that there is a washer/dryer on most floors so there is somewhat easy access to doing laundry.

Cons

I don't like that when we moved in they claimed the floors had been redone and they are clearly very old. I don't like that the walls are paper thin so you can hear every little thing. I don't like that the carpets in the hallways are all molded and mildewy and desperately need to be replaced. I don't like that when it comes to fixing things it feels like the company likes to take the route of patching a bandaid over the issue than actually resolving the problem. I don't like that the heat is so ridiculously high during the fall/winter/spring months. I don't like that $1,000 was required when moving into the building because we didn't use a move in company when the buildings condition is trash. I don't like that it always smells bad in the building and sometimes reeks of marijuana and cigarettes amongst other garbage like smells.

Advice to the owners

It would be wonderful if the building were kept in better shape. The carpets need to be replaced as they are filled with mold and mildew and it is a serious health hazard. There is clearly a reason why this building is rated D and it is depressing that no one feels the need to do anything about it.
