Worst building I’ve lived in in 30 years in New York

Pros

Good location, but too many management/landlord issues.

Cons

We terminated our lease due to ongoing and unresolved building safety and management issues. During our single year of tenancy, we experienced repeated security concerns, unsafe construction activity outside our unit, an incident involving a construction worker threatening us through our second-floor window, repeated heat shutoffs for entire weekends during 15-degree weather, persistent hot water issues, excessive noise disturbances, trash accumulation under the stairs, and a front entrance door that remained completely unlocked often for weeks at a time. In addition, we had to chase after them to get our security deposit back. Despite providing photographs, videos, and audio documentation of these issues, our concerns were consistently dismissed. The management company for this building is buchbinder and warren and the individual responsible for management is Rachel Stowell. Management was of no help when most problems arose and gaslit at every turn to avoid fixing problems.

Advice to the owners

Hire a new property management company or at least don’t allow Rachel Stowell to manage this building. She blatantly lied to Tenants on repeated occasions about a number of issues and is essentially useless as a property manager.

Great building

Pros

Nice neighborhood. Beautiful views. Working elevator. Brand new washer/dryers.

Cons

Parking can be a pain. No A/C built in. Went a month without washer/dryer during updates. Never got security deposit back Sketchy broker

Advice to the owners

Buy the neighboring lot and charge for parking.
