Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews of buildings managed by Beth Walman indicate generally well-maintained properties with attentive and responsive supers, especially notable at 51 7 Avenue South. Residents appreciate good garbage management, cleanliness, and respectful neighbors. However, noise from nearby subway lines is a frequent downside. Some buildings, notably at 220 East 36 Street, face challenges—with complaints about slow owner responsiveness, unresolved repair issues, and poor cleanliness in common areas. Rent-stabilized units sometimes come with maintenance delays and difficult move-out experiences. Overall, management excels in maintenance and tenant communication in select buildings but shows inconsistency across the portfolio, with some properties needing improved owner attention and common area upkeep.

Great building, amazing super, noisy location

Pros

The super here is amazing, very responsive and always willing to help out. The building is well maintained well and in an amazing location. Other tenants in the building are generally nice and not overly disruptive.

Cons

It can get very noisy outside as it’s on a busy road. Every time the 1,2,3 train pass by you will hear it at all hours.

Advice to the owners

I don’t have any direct advise to the owners. My experience with them has been positive and I believe they manage the building well and have done a good job picking the right super who really cares about the tenants.

Enjoyed living here but leaving was a terrible experience

Pros

Noise levels are minimal and all the neighbors are great The super takes care of the building common areas and trash well,

Cons

Live in super is great but sometimes will not answer/forget to come back and fix something so you have to remind him. Or he’ll say he will be there in 20 minutes and ends up taking 2 hours. The landlords are responsive, but when I had an issue in my bathroom where, what I later learned was a leak, was causing the paint to chip severely, I had to email the landlord and super 3 separate times over a year and a half for them to finally fix it. And they only fixed it because I was moving out. The move out process was a nightmare. It took months for me to get my lease renewal and then when I decided to not renew, the landlords said I was the one who handled it poorly, even though I acted within my rights as a tenant in a rent stabilized unit. I genuinely think there are major issues with this building that they are choosing to ignore and it is going to eventually cause massive damage or mold.
