Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews for buildings managed by Mark Neiman indicate significant management and maintenance challenges. While some appreciate the good location, spacious units, and cleanliness of common areas, many tenants report poor responsiveness from management and superintendents. Issues such as thin walls causing noise disturbances, erratic super behavior, elevator malfunctions, and inconsistent heat and water quality are common complaints. Garbage management and pest control appear inconsistent across buildings. Residents urge the management to improve communication, responsiveness, and overall maintenance efforts. The general sentiment advises caution, as multiple tenants discourage moving in until meaningful improvements are made.

If Walls Could Talk

Pros

Big bedroom and living room, updated appliances, nice proximity to the A train

Cons

VERY thin walls. You can hear literally everything your neighbors do. Very unfortunate when your bedroom wall is shared with your neighbor’s kitchen, especially when they blare music at all hours. Some units have very narrow kitchens. Elevator has broken down many times. Issues with cold water rather than warm water—default water temperature is hot. Similarly, washers and dryers run hotter than normal.

Advice to the owners

Respond and resolve tenant issues in a timely fashion, rather than throwing up your hands. Basic violations of a tenant’s lease should be dealt with effectively.

Absolutely awful - unless they make changes, do not move in!!

Pros

Good location Good lighting Common areas always clean

Cons

This building is absolutely awful. We have had tons of problems since moving in, and the management company was uncommunicative and unhelpful. It seems like they were recently fired and a new management company is replacing them, so we'll see how that goes. Also, in mid-January, they cut the gas to the building, with no real time frame about when we'll be getting gas again. Super is erratic and randomly screams at tenants. To be fair, he has a hard job.

Advice to the owners

Put a little more effort into maintaining the building and apartments.
