Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by Martin Luster consistently points to significant maintenance and management shortcomings. Residents report poor cleanliness, outdated and malfunctioning security features, frequent pest problems, and neglected common areas. Despite prime locations and some timely repairs like elevator fixes, building interiors often appear neglected, with old paint, thin walls, and noisy units. Management responsiveness is perceived as slow or insufficient, and safety concerns due to broken entry locks and lack of proper surveillance are common. Rent-stabilized units offer some appeal, but overall tenants urge the landlord to prioritize thorough building upkeep, modernize facilities, and improve communication and safety measures.

Reviews

Former tenant·Over 2 years ago

Old and loud

Pros

Rent stabilized… that’s it

Cons

Weird neighbors. The wood floors are extremely loud. You will be able to hear every movement in the unit above you. Walls are extremely thin. Pest problem.

Advice to the owners

Paint the inside of the apartment and upgrade the buzzer. Make sure tenants are compliant with the 80% carpet rule.

Former tenant·Over 3 years ago

Building needs an upgrade. Dirty, hazardous, rodents.

Pros

Location, location, location.

Cons

Doors always break, cameras never work and only located on first floor, hallways haven’t been painted in years,, building is cleaned 2x/month if that, never mopped.

Advice to the owners

This building is overpriced for what it looks like. Make your tenants feel like you actually care about them a little. The hallways need some painting, they look horrible. Stop being cheap with managing this building.
