Nice place near Columbia
Former Tenant
Pros:
Spacious, close to campus, doorman building. Beautiful interior
Cons:
Ran a bit hot in the apartment, bathrooms ran into occasional drain issues in sink and shower

Fine graduate student housin
Former Tenant
Pros:
The super is great, and really friendly and helpful, don't be afraid to talk to him.
Everything works, packages don't get stolen as often as other buildings in the area, but still not fully secure.
Walls are pretty thick, hard to hear neighbors which is good.
Cons:
Basement trash and recycling is fine, but if your windows face the "courtyard", it will smell like trash in the summer, even on the 5th floor.
The dorm furniture is really just that, it's fine, but after a few years you will really wish for better.

Good long term housing
Former Tenant
Pros:
Very responsive management
Cons:
Institutionally owned by Columbia University -- most units are relatively dated, even with periodic remodeling, and designed mostly for short term renters (on the scale of a few years)

Sink in rooms is a unique pro

The corridors have too many people for the facilities they provide.

Great Until It Wasn't
Former Tenant
Pros:
This building is mostly controlled by Columbia University, so it was mostly secure. It is very close to the 1 train and near three parks (central, riverside, morningside).
Cons:
However, they were remodeling the unit that shared a wall with my unit, and the construction company made a huge hole in my wall. Columbia refused to fix the wall for over a month until I threatened to bring the case to small claims court.

Apartment is just fine
Former Tenant
Pros:
Super is generally helpful, and if you submit a request, fixes are generally made. Apartments are old-school, with large bedrooms and living spaces. Elevator is great.
Cons:
Pests, apartments are old and in bad condition. Response time for issues can be slow.
Advice to owner:
Overhaul the service request system.

Nice except for noise and very outdated bathroom
Former Tenant
Pros:
Well maintained by Columbia
Cons:
Unhealthy noise level from the street. Trucks delivering Mo-Friday starting at 3am, iddling for 3h, slamming metal on the ground every week . Street packed and drivers furiously honking starting at 7am. It was absolutely hell.
Advice to owner:
Work with the city to enforce quiet time at night.
