Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by Yoel Hershkowitch indicates varied experiences. While some appreciate the functional amenities and proximity to local stores, many report serious issues including poor cleanliness, pest infestations, heating malfunctions, and building disrepair. Noise and safety concerns also recur frequently. Responsiveness from management is inconsistent—prompt in some cases but notably slow or unhelpful in others. Several renters advise significant investment in property maintenance or even consider selling. Overall, renters should expect mixed management responsiveness and preparedness for building upkeep challenges under this landlord.

Reviews

Wouldn’t live there again

Pros

Was extremely close to where I worked, and had many grocery stores nearby (Food Bazaar, Bravo, Food Basket). There is a citibike dock that’s filled in the morning right outside. That’s where it ends.

Cons

Building decaying….water leaks everytime it rains, heaters not working in freezing weather but cranked up all the way in summer making apartment over 100° and management doesn’t respond to fix it. Utility bills skyrocket above $250 a month. The stairs are literally crumbling and hallways smell like smoke. The street outside is super loud, and the trains nearby are not good unless you work in midtown.

Advice to the owners

Invest in the building or sell it

Mostly Happy Tenants

Pros

Everything functional, good water pressure, close to needs like grocery, laundry, etc.

Cons

Hosted mice unknowingly for a short time but the landlord fixed it as soon as we noted it.
