Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant experiences with buildings managed by Mordy Sohn vary widely. Positive reviews praise responsive landlords and superintendents who maintain cleanliness and promptly address issues, especially in smaller or rent-stabilized buildings. Some tenants appreciate quiet neighborhoods and good heating. However, significant concerns persist about poor management in certain properties, including rude staff, delayed or inadequate maintenance, pest infestations, and security problems like broken intercoms and package theft. Several buildings face issues with noise, outdated infrastructure, and ignored health protocols. Overall, experiences suggest inconsistency in management quality, with some buildings well-run and others reflecting neglect and tenant frustration.

The stuff you see in movies and on TV

Pros

Close to subway

Cons

Building managers are RUDE on the phone. They apply false late charges. Lie about apartments rent-stabilization status. The building is 100 years old this year and falling apart. Cracks all over. Super is slow to fix anything and when he does it is done terribly. Buzzer has broken several times and each time it takes longer to get fixed. The roof leaks every time it rains. Rats & roaches have been a consistent problem. Drug dealers hang out in front of the building. The block is noisy year-round. Owned & operated by classic NYC slumlords. Avoid at all costs.

Advice to the owners

Sell. Get out of the business. This isn’t for you.

Good landlord in the Bronx

Pros

This is a small building with a responsive landlord and a superintendent who cares about the place.

Cons

My apartment is in one of the corners of the building and it gets chilly sometimes. Some neighbors do not let the exterminator in their apartments.
