Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for 641 CENTRAL MANAGEMENT LLC buildings reveals significant management challenges. Renters cite severe maintenance issues like flooding, mold, poor heating, and malfunctioning laundry facilities, with many problems persisting for months without resolution. Communication is notably poor—management is often unresponsive, hard to reach, and neglectful in providing updates. Cleanliness and garbage management are lacking, contributing to an overall deteriorated living environment. While locations near subway access are appreciated, these advantages are overshadowed by widespread dissatisfaction with landlord oversight, upkeep, and general management practices. Prospective tenants should be cautious about reliability and responsiveness in these properties.

My Worst Nightmare

Cons

Management is so slow or will never reply. It is managed so poorly that it is impossible for things to get fixed. Issues last months. I do not recommend. Apartments flood, mold on baseboards. The apartment looks nice but do not be fooled. Management is over half the problem and heartless about solving issues (if they don’t ghost you). Avoid Brooklyn Rents at all costs. Apartments all flood and they only have one person managing all repairs. Management never came once there was 3 feet of water in the apartment. Once we drained the apartment there was mold everywhere that they did nothing about. The city came and verified the mold. We fought them to be able to leave and their solution after we left was to board up the flooded area and put the apartment back on the market. I feel bad for whoever lives there now.

Advice to the owners

The owner of these buildings owns Brooklyn Rents, and his son shows the apartments. They are also who you have to call to get anything done. There are no checks or repercussions since the business is a family scam. They mirror your frustrations back at you and make you feel like the problem. Any good reviews you read are because they make you write a review right after you sign for the apartment.

Management from Hell

Pros

Location to the subway. Space of the apartment. Laundry in building. Dishwasher.

Cons

Management sucks. Signing the apartment went smoothly but then from the moment I picked up the keys until now, they have been awful. They never respond to emails. When they do pick up the phone (which isn’t always), they never have an answer and say they will call you back and never do. They are unreachable. They don’t fix things.

Advice to the owners

COMMUNICATE. Things happen and that’s totally fine. Just give updates!!! And stick to reasonable deadlines!
