Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by Robert Weil reveals a mixed management approach. While some properties boast well-maintained conditions, prompt repairs, and friendly, long-term neighbors, others suffer from disorganized management, slow responsiveness, and unresolved maintenance issues such as heating control problems and persistent pest infestations. Garbage management varies, and communication can be inconsistent, with some tenants facing delayed billing processes. Suggestions from renters emphasize the need for improved maintenance consistency, better tenant communication, and providing stable points of contact. Prospective renters should expect variability in management quality depending on the specific building.

Great neighbors, poorly managed building

Pros

Great location, lovely neighbors who have been in the building a long time, rent stabilized, dishwasher.

Cons

At best management is disorganized, at worst willfully ignorant in ways that endanger the building. After a major maintenance issue, a fire hazard that was dangerous for me to touch was left in my apartment for weeks and I had to repeatedly ask for it to be taken care of. There is no way to control the radiators so when the heat is on it is on and we would open our windows and use our AC units in the winter to compensate, which raised our electric bill, negating the whole point of having heat included in our rent. The backyard is not well maintained and the building has a persistent rat problem. There has never been a consistent point of contact for residents. The basement is a confusing, unused space that could at the very least be used as storage (i.e. for bikes) like some other buildings on the block do. Or shared laundry. It's a real shame because it's a wonderful neighborhood with wonderful people who have lived in the building for a long time.

Advice to the owners

Change management companies, take care of the building, provide a consistent point of contact for residents

Decent place, but good luck getting things fixed

Pros

Apartment was spacious and had access to a roof deck and small courtyard. Good location, deli steps away on the corner & a short walk to Myrtle Broadway

Cons

From the very beginning of living here we had issues with the hot water and leaks due to a botched roof renovation. Maintenance eventually patched up the leaks and fixed the roof so they stopped for good, but it took ages and we had to keep making maintenance requests that wouldn’t be answered for up to two weeks. We’re still having consistent issues with the water getting hot & staying hot.

Advice to the owners

Have things fixed properly so the issues don’t keep coming back
