Good 1st Apartment
Pros
Location, close to transportation, minimal issues, quiet and decent neighbors. Guys at the bodega downstairs are really nice, and so are the laundry people.
Cons
Dirty stairs, trash being torn into a lot.
Great neighbors, TERRIBLE management, unsafe building. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Pros
Neighbors are fantastic and pretty much keep to themselves. When the management doesn't look out for tenants, neighbors look out for each other. When the super refused to provide safety with stolen packages, neighbors started bringing up each other's packages and putting it in front of others' doors when entering so they wouldn't get stolen / ripped open.
Cons
Packages repeatedly stolen from the lobby (pretty much every single day). Tenants pleaded with the super to please make the front door more secure or install a box to insert packages into and he refused. He said it isn't his responsibility. People on the street could easily open up the doors and enter the building. Numerous times there were homeless people in the building ripping open packages, changing, sleeping, and even one time someone defecated in between the two front doors. The super (not the owner who is very kind, but his son who is not and communicates with the residents) is not helpful at all. Smoke alarm went off in the hallways for about a week (with numerous complaints from residents all week) until he finally changed them. He says safety of residents "isn't his problem" and ignores pleas from residents for help. Also a meth lab exploded in the apartment building next door in our last month living there. There is a group of people squatting in apartment building next door who sell meth and take apart stolen bikes for $$, and often they set up camp on the street. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I would NOT recommend this building to anyone, especially young women.
Advice to the owners
DO BETTER. Help ensure the safety of your tenants.
