Okay living experience but crazy landlords

Pros

The rent is great as is the area. The heating is good as well and the apartment was furnished so that was nice.

Cons

I lived here after COVID for a bit and the landlord was the worst, constantly penny pinching, dragging their feet with any repairs, not willing to compromise an inch on anything and most of all outright rude. Screams over you while you’re trying to speak, doesn’t allow you to get a word in and insults you then ends the conversation before you can get a word in and just yells things that make no sense.

Advice to the owners

Fix your attitude.

We lived in fear...

Pros

Building is located in a desirable neighborhood and landlord is friendly. A ton of storage in the apartment, which is rare in NYC.

Cons

No signs of working fire alarms, carbon monoxide devices, and water sprinklers. We realized after a recent fire incident on the ground floor. There is always furniture blocking the ground floor and sometimes even on the upper floors, which is a huge fire safety hazard. There are BUGS! There are signs of critters/roaches across the apartment/building and the hallway is always dirty. In-unit AC provided by landlord simply does not work. As for heat, it worked half the time. Super came to fixed multiple times and it was still broken. We ended up having to purchase our own portable heater. The apartment is across from a school, so it gets extremely loud during school hours. Beware of this.

Advice to the owners

For the safety of your tenants, please please please ensure there are proper fire equipment and safety practices.
