Review Summary for Gumley Haft LLC
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of buildings managed by GUMLEY HAFT LLC emphasize a generally well-maintained, clean environment with attentive doormen and quality amenities, especially at the flagship Manhattan and Brooklyn locations. Renters appreciate the building upkeep, security, and prime locations. However, several reviews note challenges with management responsiveness and professionalism, citing slow or unhelpful responses to tenant concerns and strict, sometimes inflexible building policies that can impact convenience. Pest control appears mostly effective, and neighbors tend to be rated positively. Overall, expect clean, secure buildings with strong amenities but occasional frustrations regarding communication and management approach.

Great building to live in
Former Tenant
Pros:
Was renovated in the late 2010s and amenities/common spaces are great. Doorpeople are wonderful.
Cons:
Some cockroaches on the 2nd floor. Washer/dryer not really easy to use. The condo is not friendly with subletting and did try to extort my roommate into breaking their lease or paying $5k to get a subletter.

Overall well-managed building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Clean and overall well maintained. Doormen and porters are great. Building has an on-site handyman which is a huge plus in a condo/rental building.
Cons:
Drafty in the winter and oddly extremely humid in the summer due to a/c units. Unclear if this is a unit-specific issue. Intercom has been nonfunctional and management won’t let fix it - they say due to Covid but they come to fix other things with no problems. Doormen do their best to call about deliveries and guests but can’t always be on top of it depending on how busy it gets in the lobby.

53rd and 8th
Former Tenant
Pros:
Amenities, location, rooftop, neighborhood, security
Cons:
Managment is very unprofessional and rude

I would make sure that managment is better trained

Do not live here
Former Tenant
Pros:
Clean, presentable, beautiful amenities
Cons:
Had to fight with management to let me move in the building the day my lease started because you have to reserve the elevator in advance. Amenities broke all the time, building is extremely strict about deliveries and companies you want to work on your apartment. Must get approval before having them enter to consult. Didn't feel homey.

Bad property management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Friendly doormen and clean
Cons:
Horrible property management, property manager was the worst - totally non responsive
Advice to owner:
Treat rental tenants like people
