Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants renting buildings managed by Daniel Lebensohn experience a mix of positives and challenges. Management gains praise for being responsive and maintaining cleanliness in many buildings, with friendly and helpful supers enhancing residents' comfort. However, several renters report persistent pest issues, including mice and roaches, and noise disturbances, especially near train lines. Heating systems and water pressure often draw complaints for inconsistent or insufficient performance. While unit upgrades and location convenience are valued, some tenants note management’s slow response to repairs and inadequate handling of tenant concerns, including security and building nuisances. Prospective renters should anticipate both attentive management and ongoing maintenance or environmental issues depending on the building.

Building-Wide Mice Infestation

Pros

The building is close to the F train, about a 5 minute walk. Washer/dryer in-unit.

Cons

The building is infested with mice and management does nothing about it. They send the same person to “patch holes” one out of every five times you reach out begging for them to do something and the problem is never fixed. During the winter, the heat is on maybe 15 minutes a day so you go to bed shivering and wake up shivering. Walking into the apartment building through the main door downstairs, it smells like a disgusting farm because of them either letting the garbage sit for too long or potential mice decomposing in the walls. When you have rent issues with getting charged random fees, management does not reply, they’re impossible to get ahold of on the phone and they don’t answer emails.

Advice to the owners

Be more responsive to your tenants and imagine if it was YOU living here and how you’d want to be respected.
